Rethymnon is a small harbor town on the northern part of Crete. It has a beautiful centre but can be very touristic compared to the southern, quite part of the island.

Market in Heraklion, the capital of Creta . Close to Heraklion is the site of Knossos. This is a very large and beautiful archeological site where the legendary labryrint with the Minotaurus of King Minos was located .

In the northwestern part of Crete there are some old en remote monasteries. This is Moni Agias Triada, which houses some beautiful courtyards and icon painting inside the church. The biggest town in northwestern Crete is Hania, a busy harbor town.
