In the Loire Valley, aristocracy has build a lot of extraordinary castles. The interiors are very different, some are plain, some are simple museums and some are extravagant with people still living on the castle of their forefathers.

Near Carnac large numbers of menhirs are aligned. There are 2 major sets of menhirs and a couple of smaller sets.

In the middle of Brittany is a village named Huelgoat where giants seem to have played with big stones.

In a few small villages enclosed churches have been build in the 16th century. At that time these villages were rich because of the wool trade.

The north coast of Brittany has some rugged rock coastlines. Left the Pink Granite Coast and right the Emerald Coast.

St Malo is a fortified city form which pirates and traders went around the world. The centre is still medieval and has a cozy atmosphere.

Close to the beach with big differences between high and low tide, a monastery has been build on a hill from the 6th century onward.

In Bayeuex there is a 10th century tapestry about the invasion of William the Conqueror in 1066
