Greece 2009
The centre of Athens is full of old monuments and there are enough sites to fill several days.
The Temple of Zeus and the changing of the guards.
The next stop was Santorini. A beautiful island on the rim of an extinct volcano. Blue sea and white houses.
From the sea to the village you can climb a steep hill of ride a donkey. For us it was an easy choice !
By high speed boat, we went from Santorini to Mykonos. Windmill’s, narrow streets and white houses again.
Very close to Myknos is the uninhabited island of Delos. This was the spiritual centre of ancient Greece and the birthplace of the god Apollo.
Apart from looking at old stones, you can also dive or ride buggy on Mykonos
Before going home, we visited the National Museum in Athens. This is one of the best museums for ancient Greek art, with the gold from Mycenae as one of the highlights.
