Norway 2012

Before going North we had a day in Oslo with fantastic weather. We saw the Parliament buildings and the patron saint of the city.

The gateway to the North is Tromso, a city which is still relatively warm because of the Gulf stream and very lively. Most of it’s buildings are made of wood.

,

The Tromso Fjord with mountains at the back and the bridge to the Northern Lights Church,

The main reason for going North was to see the Northern Lights. We were very lucky and had 2 days of fantastic displays

From Tromso we took the Hurtigruten around the top of Norway to Kirkenss stopping in tiny fishing villages en route.

Back in Oslo, the City Hall where the Nobel Peace Price is awarded. The main hall is painted with lovely murals.

The Viking Ship museum

A must see in Oslo is the Vigeland Park with tens of bronze and stone statues of humans in all forms
