German Empire (1875 - 1900)
In 1875 the currency in the whole country was changed to the Mark which consisted of 100 Pfennig. This called for a new issues of stamps. |

The first issue was denominated in Pfennige, the later issue was denominated in Pfennig. In the issue there are lots of color variations |

The high value was the 2 Mark stamp, which also exists in many colors. |

In 1889, new designs were introduced. The variations on color remained. Some of the different colors are best seen under a UV lamp |

Early 1900 an extra value was introduced. |

At the same time, the first stamps of the famous Germania series where issued. This design would be used until 1922. |
